Joliet’s Gallery Seven is displaying the work of artist Tammy Kordik throughout the month of September.
Kordik creates mixed-media leaf paintings that explore the three-dimensional space surrounding the canvas.
“By creating 3-dimensional leaves on a 2-dimensional surface, I invite the viewer into the space surrounding the canvas,” Kordik said.
The painted leaves of the exhibit “Leave Space” are created from a variety of materials, including fabric, paper and metal screening attached to the canvas. Kordik received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University and teaches art in New Lenox School District 122. She has a Master of Arts from Governors State University.
The exhibit will be display until Sept. 28, and a free, public reception is scheduled Sept. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Gallery Seven is located at 116 N. Chicago St., Suite 102, next to the Rialto Square Theatre in downtown Joliet.
The free gallery is open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of the Month. All exhibited work at Gallery Seven is for sale.
