By the Numbers Week 2

For the Wildcats’ heart-stopping, lightning-delayed, 7-6 victory over archrival Plainfield North, the “Cats are the Week 2 Team of the Week. The victory, was the first for the Wildcats over their rivals from North, since a 16-14 victory over the Tigers in 2008.

229  The area’s leading rushers’ yardage total..….This week “The Brooks” Quintin Pringle, ran wild for 229 yards and four touchdowns, in the Raiders 34-24 win, over state-ranked St. Charles North.

328  More Bolingbrook’s Quintin Pringle….The area-leading rushing total, 328 yards for the Raider speedster.. Joliet Catholic Academy’s Keenan Hailey is the area’s second leading rusher with 313 yards in the Hilltoppers first two games.

36  More Quintin Pringle…..Pringle and Notre Dame’s Ty Gavin, lead the area with six touchdowns for 36 points.

188 The area’s best passing performance of the week, goes to Plainfeld East’s senior quarterback, Ben Mazurkiewicz who had 14 completions for 188 yards and a touchdown pass, in the Bengals 25-18 win over Joliet Central

9  The number of tackles Maine South senior LB Jimmy Bartell, had in the Hawks’ 21-13 win over Mount Carmel. Bartell’s 25-yard Pick 6 gave the Hawks a 21-13 lead with 8 minutes to go. Bartell’s quarterback sack at the Hawks’ 28-yard line with one minute to go, turned out the lights on the Caravan in the 21-13 Hawk win.

49   For the second week in a row, the Dons of Notre Dame, led the area, with their 49 point output, against Oak Forest. The Don’s “D” picked up the shutout.

0  A daily-double for the Dons of Notre Dame! The Don’s “D” tossed a shutout at Oak Forest, for the area’s fewest points allowed in Week 2

17 With their 94 points scored in their first two games, the Dons of Notre Dame are the 17th most prolific offense in Illinois. 

19 With their 7 points allowed in their first two games, the Dons of Notre Dane are tied for 19th, as the stingiest defense in Illinois.

6-7  The Area Football record against out-of-area opposition in Week 2   11-14 .440 for the season

6 Number of remaining unblemished area school’s, after 2  games….Maine South, Bolingbrook, Benet Academy, Notre Dame, Plainfield South and Lisle, are  UNDEFEATED…. Maine South and Bolingbrook, face undefeated Barrington and Sandburg in Week 2;

Undefeated Lisle, faces 11-time, defending Interstate 8 Small champion, Wilmington, winners of 58 consecutive Interstate 8 Small conference games, at Benedictine on Friday night….

2 The number of quarterback sacks by Plainfield Central linebacker, Tyler Draves, in the Wildcats 7-6 win over Plainfield North on Friday.

11  The Number of Illinois football teams that have scored over 100 points in its first two games. Peoria High School (118 points) and defending Class 6A state champion Prairie Ridge (115 points) lead the state

7  The number of Illinois football teams to have shutout both of its opponents in first two games…Montini, St. Ignatius, Marmion, Carthage, Sterling Newman, Ridgewood and South Elgin, are the seven schools that have yet to allow a point in 2018
