Teachers help open up library in Lockport

(From left) Michelle Monroe, a first grade teacher at Elizabeth Eichelberger Elementary School and Charmelle Mallory, a first grade teacher at Meadowview Elementary School, members of the United Way of Will County’s Women United social change project Read to Succeed opened its first my Little Free Library on August 1, 2018 at Fairmont Elementary School in Lockport.

Mallory and Monroe belong to the Read to Succeed program which is made up mainly of area teachers. Read to Succeed is designed to promote literacy in and out of classrooms. The Little Free Library libraries, where anyone can take or leave a book, are placed in areas with heavy community traffic to increase the access to books.
