Plainfield North, East, Central and Hilltoppers claim Regional Championships on Saturday.

On Wednesday and Thursday of next week, May 30 and 31st, the IHSA Class 4A Hinsdale South Sectional, will be played in Darien.
With the success of Plainfield School District #209’s three entries, the sectional should be renamed, The Plainfield Invitational.
Along with DuPage Valley Conference champion Neuqua Valley, Southwest Prairie Conference champion Plainfield North, SPC runner-up, Plainfield East and the SPC’s fourth-place team, Plainfield Central, the foursome, will compete, for the sectional crown.
On Saturday, Plainfield North (24-7-1) rallied past fellow-Voyager Media Publication’s, Downers Grove South, 4-3, in eight innings, to win the Class 4A Plainfield North Regional Championship.
At Hinsdale Central, In a another regional championship game, between Voyager Media Publication schools, Plainfield East (28-6), blasted Benet Academy 8-3, to bring home to Plainfield the Class 4A Hinsdale Central Regional Championship.
At Naperville Central, Plainfield Central (24-9), blasted the host Redhawks 9-1, to complete The Plainfield Invitational lineup. Three regional championships, for the Southwest Prairie Conference

At Morris on Saturday, the East Suburban Catholic Conference champions, from Joliet Catholic (30-5), routed the host Redskins of Morris, 12-2 in six innings, to claim the Class 3A Morris Regional championship.

CLASS 4A PLAINFIELD NORTH REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
PLAINFIELD NORTH 4 DOWNERS GROVE  SOUTH 3  (8 INNINGS)

With the West Suburban Gold co-champions,from Downers Grove South, leading the Southwest Prairie Conference Campions, from Plainfield North, 3-2, with two outs, in the bottom of the seventh, Plainfield North’s Gavin Doyle, would once again, come through for the regional hosts from North. Doyle’s clutch two-out RBI single, would tie the game, at 3-3.

Back on May 10, against archrival and SPC runner-up, Plainfield East, Tiger junior catcher, Greg Budig’s, walk-off single, gave North a thrilling come-from behind, 4-3 victory and sole possession of first place, in the SPC.

On May 26, Budig, would do it again, with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth, to give the Tigers, the Class 4A Plainfield North Regional championship, 4-3.
On Wednesday, May 30, Budig and his Tigers (24-7-1), will meet Plainfield East (28-6), this time, in a Class 4A Hinsdale South Sectional semifinal, in Darien.
The defending West Suburban Conference champion Mustangs bow out at 22-10 and were led by Keegan Garland, who had two hits and drove home a Mustang run. Jack Blazevich and Mike Hoes, drove home the other two Mustang runs.

CLASS 4A HINSDALE CENTRAL REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
PLAINFIELD EAST 8 BENET ACADEMY  3
All the runs in this game were scored in the first three innings, as the Bengals scored five times in the second and three more times in the third, to put this one away early. Bengal third baseman Nick Baldassano, had three hits and two RBI, to lead the Bengal attack. Dylan Carlson, drove home two Wildcat runs, while Andy Hoffman, chipped in with two hits.

The Redwings bow out at 17-14 and were led by senior third baseman, Jack Schneider, who had three hits and drove home a Redwing run.

CLASS 4A NAPERVILLE CENTRAL REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
PLAINFIELD CENTRAL 9 NAPERVILLE CENTRAL 1
The Wildcats (24-9) romped past the host Redhawks, behind Chris Conrad and his batterymate sophomore, Trevor Wagnon. Conrad fired a three-hitter at the Redhawks to improve to 6-2 on the mound, while Wagnon, drove home three, huge Wildcat runs. Wildcat shortstop Charlie Bischoff, added two hits and also drove home, three Wildcat runs. The regional championship was the second in the coaching career, of Wildcat head coach John Rosner at Central.

CLASS 3A MORRIS REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 
JOLIET CATHOLIC 12 MORRIS 2 (SIX INNINGS)
Led by seniors Greg Ziegler and Aidan Tyrell, the Hilltoppers (30-5) romped past regional hosts Morris, to being back the Class 3A Morris Regional Championship trophy, to Larkin Avenue. Tyrell improved to 10-0 on the mound, with a three-hitter, with seven strikeouts.
All Ziegler, did was get three hits, including a grand slam, a two-run homer and drive home eight, of the Hilltopper’s 12 runs. Matt Bebar, added three hits and two RBI, while Hilltopper No. 9 hitter Chris Knapczyk, continued his torrid hitting, with two more hits and two RBI.
