PROVIDENCE- JOLIET CENTRAL 12 THORNWOOD 5
The Steelmen (13-20) hammered their guests from South Holland, behind Johnny Slattery. Slattery continued his all-out assault on the baseball, driving home three Steelmen runs. Jared King drove home two Steelmen runs, while Nico Gutierrez, chipped in with two hits.
Connor Lawson, slammed the door on the Thunderbirds, firing 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief of King, to pick up the win on the mound.
LINCOLN-WAY WEST-JOLIET WEST 13 BLOOM 3 6 innings
The Tigers (9-24) routed the Trojans, in six innings on Tuesday in Joliet. Ty Batusich, led the Tiger attack with two hits and two RBI. Chris Rios and Tyler Pransky, also drove home a pair of Tiger runs, each. Cam Seeman (WP) and Cam Conway, combined to fire a five-hitter at Bloom, on the mound.
YORKVILLE-DOWNERS GROVE NORTH 6 WHEATON WARRENVILLE SOUTH 5
Trailing 5-2, as their Yorkville Regional first-round game entered the top of the fifth, the Trojans rallied past the host Tigers. Scoring two runs in the fifth, to pull within 5-4, the Trojans grabbed the lead with two more, in the top of the sixth. Nick Bacarella, slammed the door on the Tigers in the sixth and seventh, to pick up the win on the mound, for DGN.
Ben Johnson drove home two huge Trojan runs, while Scott Jakobsze, led the Trojan attack with three hits and an RBI. Bacarella, helped himself out at the plate, with a hit and an RBI.
DANVILLE- BRADLEY-BOURBONNAIS 5 MINOOKA 2
The Indians fell to the Boilermakers in Danville and close out the 2018 campaign at 15-14.
MAINE EAST 10 VON STEUBEN 0 Five innings
Maine East (8-16) RHP Jusuf Zvizdic, pitched and hit the Demons, past Von Steuben on Tuesday. Zvizdic, fired a two-hit shutout at the Panthers, with eight strikeouts. Zvizdic also helped himself at the plate driving home a pair of Demon runs. Pat Miller led the Demon attack with two hits and two RBI, while Cole Schnobrich, chipped in with two RBI.
NAPERVILLE CENTRAL-HINSDALE SOUTH 4 BOLINGBROOK 1
“The Brook”, gave the West Suburban Conference Gold Division co-champion, Hornets (19-12), a battle, before falling in Darien on Tuesday. The Raiders Matt Dinkel, allowed just one run in his outstanding five inning performance on the mound. Dinkel fanned eight Hornet batters, while senior Jake Harvey, drove home the lone Raider run, in the top of the seventh. The Raiders close out the season at 3-20.
TF SOUTH- SHEPARD 3 ROMEOVILLE 1
The Spartans (6-26) fell to the Astros, on Tuesday in Palos Heights. The Astros scored twice in the first inning and made it hold up, for the TF South regional victory. The Spartans were led by Josh Golibrzuch, who had two hits and drove home the lone Spartan run, in the fifth inning. Julio Garcia chipped in with a pair of hits for “The Ville. The Spartans bow out at 6-26.
NONCONFERENCE
JOLIET CATHOLIC 5 NAPERVILLE NORTH 1
The Hilltoppers (28-5) tuned up for the Class 3A playoffs, with the nonconference win, on Tuesday. Simon Grashoff, Matt Bebar and Chris Knapczyk, all picked up RBIs for the Hilltoppers.
