APRIL 23

Earth Day Celebration. Noon to 3 p.m. at Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Drive, Joliet. Come join for hikes and other programs providing information on what you can do to help the earth. Free; activities and stations include information talks, wildflower walks, crafts and more. Rialto Organ Extravaganza. 7 p.m. at Rialto Square Theatre, 102 N. Chicago St., Joliet. Featuring the Joliet Symphony Orchestra and organists Jelani Eddington, Martin Ellis, Pierre Fracalanza and Donnie Rankin. Tickets are available at the Rialto box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com, or charge at 815-726-6600 or 800-745-3000.

Second Annual Friends of the Library Art Sale. 6 to 8 p.m. at Shorewood-Troy library, 650 Deerwood Drive, Shorewood. Join for an evening of fun, food and fundraising for the library by purchasing art donated by the community.

 

APRIL 27

FAFSA Workshop. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Joliet Junior College, 1215 Houbolt Road. Parents and students who need help completing the FAFSA can attend one of Joliet Junior College’s FAFSA and scholarship workshops. All local parents and students can attend for free, regardless of what school they plan to attend in the fall.

Central Vs. West Baseball JT Playing for a Cure. 4:30 p.m. at Joliet West High School Varsity Field,  401 N. Larkin Ave., Joliet. All proceeds from the Central vs. West baseball event will benefit Pink Heals of Joliet and the Addison Locke Memorial Scholarship. The event includes concessions, raffles, 50/50 and “in honor of” cards, which will be sold for a dollar and held up during a moment of silence to honor those affected by cancer.  

 

APRIL 30

Joliet American Legion Band Spring Benefit Concert. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet. The concert will serve as a fundraiser as the Band pursues its quest to compete in the Senior Band competition at the National American Legion Convention in Cincinnati. Tickets for this concert will be available in advance through the Band members and at the Park. Seating for this concert is limited to 350 patrons. Refreshments will be served. Trivia Night. 6 p.m. at Joliet Elks Club, 250 SE Frontage Road, Joliet. Cost is $20 per person or $160 for a table team of 8 people. The event will feature raffles, prizes and ten rounds of trivia fun.
