Joliet Rotarians honored Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Will and Grundy Counties on October 15 during a special event held for mentors (Bigs) and mentees (Littles). This year Rotary International’s theme is “Rotary: Making a Difference.” That is exactly what Joliet Rotarians commit to accomplish.

To achieve the theme of making a difference, Rotary Club of Joliet has established a new tradition to salute an organization and celebrate their hard work and dedication to the community. Rotarians work together to plan an event or party that can be enjoyed by the individuals the organization serves and their employees.

The first event, honoring BBBS, was held at Dollinger Farm. During the event, Bigs, Littles, and BBBS staff had the run of the farm, which included train rides, a corn maze, animals from Big Wolf Ranch, pumpkins, food, music and more.

“The Rotary Club of Joliet is proud to honor BBBS for all that they do for the children of our community,” said Dr. Cheryl McCarthy, Joliet Rotary President. “It was wonderful to watch the Bigs and Littles enjoy time together in an interactive, family-friendly setting.”

BBBS of Will and Grundy Counties serves students in elementary and high school through their Big Brother/Sister and Mentor 2.0 programs. For more information, or to volunteer, visit www.bbbswillgrundy.org. For more information about Rotary, visit www.rotary.com.
