Troy Middle School eighth-graders Cristian Rojas, Josh Escobedo and Daniel Landando made the cut this season to qualify for state.
“We are very proud of them and their achievements,” Troy Wrestling Head Coach Christopher Giugler said. “These three wrestlers did well the whole season. Although they didn’t place in the top six for their weight classes at state, they worked hard to improve their technique and conditioning, and it was their hard work that earned them spots at the state competition.”
Giugler said he and Assistant Coach Joe Jaeger are proud of how well the entire team performed this season. Regional and sectional competitions were tough this year, Giugler said, but even so, 10 Troy wrestlers placed within the top four in their classes at the regional competition, and the team took fourth place at regionals.
“From the practice room to the meets,” Giugler added, “our team dedicated an immense amount of time and energy to the sport. In doing so, they worked together and demonstrated true teamwork and sportsmanship. The experience is one that will last well beyond the end of the season, with valuable lessons carrying forward into their adult lives.”
