Sports roundup 9-20: Volleyball, golf and cross country

Minooka volleyball moved to 9-2 overall, 5-0 in the SPC with a 25-15, 25-15 win over Oswego. Holly Bonde had nine kills and three blocks, Ali Papesh recorded seven kills, Taylor Baranski had 11 digs and three aces and Brooklyn Bachmann added 19 assists for the Indians.

•Lockport (9-3) cruised to a 25-9, 25-6 win over Thornridge. Shae O’Neil had seven aces to lead the Porters.

•Romeoville fell to Joliet Central 25-20, 25-14. Payton Koranda had 10 kills and Lyric Miles added nine. Claudia Cisneros had 14 assists.

•Benet (14-1, 2-0) topped Joliet Catholic 25-11, 14-25, 29-27.

CROSS COUNTRY

Westmont girls beat Elmwood Park 21-38 and Valeo Academy 15-50. Halle Nash won the race with a time of 20:34. Peyton Nash finished third (22:00), Frankie Fabry was fourth (22:29), Lisa Niemiec fifth (22:34) and Lily Arndt eighth (23:46).

The Vestment boys fell to Elmwood Park 26-29 and beat Valeo 15-50. The Sentinels’ Matt Gedraitis won the race with a time of 16:54. Sam Asa was third (17:44), Kyle Casper sixth (18:48),Jake Dooley ninth (19:53) and Jason Eiermann 10th (19:58).

GOLF

In a boys golf match held at Village Greens, Glenbard West defeated Downers Grove South in a WSC crossover 158-164.  For DGS, Dean Netzel had a 39, Kyle Soderstrom 40, Cameron Crowley 41, and Trevor Troha 44.

In a match held at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Villa Park (par 32), Downers Grove South beat Willowbrook 143-181 to move to 6-0 in the WSC Gold. Netzel was the medalist with a 33, Troha and Soderstrom each shot 36 and Matt Millbrandt 38.
