 Indians rally for a pair of wins at Bradley-Bourbonnais Tournament

Trailing Rockford Auburn 40-32 after three quarters in the Bradley Bourbonnais Christmas Tournament opener, the Indians had the girls from Rockford, right where they wanted them.

Behind senior Cierra Bachmann, Minooka would rally past Auburn 52-51.

Bachmann would lead the Indians with 18 points. Brooke McNally added 10 points and Sophie Darden chipped in with eight.

Indians in OT, take down SPC rival Steelwoman 53-50!

In their second game at Bradley-Bourbonnais, Minooka (11-1),faced a familiar foe in Southwest Prairie Conference rival Joliet Central.

 Trailing 37-31 to the Steelwomen at the end of three quarters the cardiac-kids from Minooka rallied to victory in overtime.

Savannah Johnson lead the Indians with 14 points. Indian three-point specialist Caitlyn Hoover added 12 points and Cierra Bachmann chipped in with 10.

Joliet Central (7-4) bounced back with a Bradley-Bourbonnais Christmas Tournament win defeating Bishop McNamara 62-53.

Redwings hammer Naperville North 51-25
In their Naperville North/Benet Academy Christmas Quad game in Naperville, the 13-2 Redwings’ defense had an off night. After holding their East Suburban Catholic rivals from Marist to just 21 points on Friday the Redwing “D” allowed 25 points to the host Huskies.

Lisle wins Old Plank Road Rivalry over Westmont in I-8

In another edition of the Old Plank Road Rivalry in Lisle, the host Lions defeated Westmont 50-33. The Lions were led by senior McKenzie Weaver who scored a game-high 18 points. Abby Casmer and Jordan Buchett each chipped in with six points for Lisle (9-4, 3-3).

Lisle jumped out to a 21-9 lead after one quarter. Westmont (0-7, 0-4) rallied in the second quarter to pull within 29-25 at halftime.

Weaver had a personal 9-0 run in the second half to lead the Lions to the Interstate 8 Conference win.

Cougars back over .500 with wins over Romeoville and Metea Valley

Plainfield South (6-5, 2-2) picked up a pair of wins this weekend. On Friday night the Cougars picked up a Southwest Prairie win over Romeoville 59-46. On Saturday the Cougars picked up a 39-29 nonconference win over Metea Valley (4-7)

Cierra Bachmann leads Minooka atop the SPC

In Friday’s Southwest Prairie Conference, first-place showdown at Oswego (9-3, 3-1) Minooka senior Cierra Bachmann knew what she had to do.

After scoring 10 points in the first half, Bachmann was blanked by the tough Panther defense in the third quarter. Clinging to a 42-38 Indian lead after three quarters, Bachmann went into overdrive in the fourth quarter.

All Bachmann did was score 15 of the Indians’ 23 fourth quarter points as Minooka would roll past Oswego 65-52. With Bachmann’s 25-point performance the Indians would improve to 10-1 overall and take over sole possession of the SPC with their 4-0 SPC mark.

Five-foot, 2-inch junior guard Allison Bugajski added 12 points while 5-3 senior, long-range markswoman Caitlyn Hoover buried three more triples and finished with 11 points.

Up front for the Indians, Savannah Johnson (eight points) and Sophie Darden (seven points), controlled the paint for the SPC leaders.

Trojans knock off WSC Silver leader Glenbard West 50-41

The West Suburban Silver leaders from Glenbard West (9-3, 4-1) were in town. By the end of Friday night the visiting Hilltoppers shared the WSC Silver with York (9-3, 4-1).

With their huge 50-41 WSC Silver win, Downers Grove North (7-3. 3-1) pulled into a tie in the loss column with the Hilltoppers and the Lady Dukes. Also joining the four-way tie atop the WSC Silver is Oak Park-River Forest (8-4, 3-1).

This one stated out as a great defensive battle or a just plain-old, poor shooting first half for both schools. The Hilltoppers led 14-12 at the halftime break.
Heading into the fourth quarter with a 29-28 lead, the Trojans, would race past the Hilltoppers, for a 50-41 win.

Angels win opener at Marian Catholic Invitational

Led by Angels’ leading scorer junior Mia Bertino’s 15 points, JCA (6-7) rolled past Rich East 52-41 on Friday night. In their Marian Catholic Invitational victory sophomore Jenna Hernandez chipped in with 13 points.

Hawks slip past Wolves in CSL South

Maine South (7-5, 2-2) surprised Niles West (7-4, 1-3) in Park Ridge on Friday night 55-52.
