The Plainfield Park District is offering those too young to stay awake to ring in the New Year a chance to celebrate in their own way. Those that need to be asleep when the calendar changes still have an opportunity to celebrate the clock striking 12 — just noon instead of midnight.
Children can ring in the New Year and still make their bedtimes with Plainfield Park District’s Noon Year’s Eve celebration.
The midday event includes all of the trappings of a real, late night New Year’s Eve party but at the kid-friendly hours of 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. at the Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St.
Young revelers can dance to a DJ spinning music, play games, make crafts and commemorate the event with a photo at the family photo station.
The party concludes with a countdown to a balloon drop at the stroke of noon.
The event is for children ages 2-10 with a responsible adult and costs $12 for Plainfield Park District residents and $15 per non-resident child. Day of the event registration is $15 per child, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
