Dons second half explosion buries Wolves

In another edition of the “Battle of Niles Township”, the Dons of Notre Dame (3-2) and the Wolves of Niles West (3-2), battled through a very competitive first half, with Notre Dame leading 20-19.
Led by their sophomore sharpshooter, Troy D’Amico, the Dons, would outscore the Wolves 22-8 in the third quarter to open up a 42-27 lead after three quarters. D’Amico, who had just seven points at halftime, scored eight points in the third quarter.
D’Amico, scored ten more points in the fourth quarter, as the Don’s second-half avalanche buried the Wolves 63-38. D’Amico, finished with a game-high 24 points, including four three-pointers.
Fellow -sophomore Anthony Sayles, also chipped in with 13 points.
For Niles West, senior Jaylen Miller led the Wolves in scoring with 10 points. Senior Richie Noparstak added nine points, and senior Mason Williams chipped in with six points.
Top-ranked Raiders, win home-opener over East Aurora
After feasting on downstate-powers in Decatur, and winning the 2018 Decatur Turkey Classic, the top-ranked Raiders returned to The Brook for their home-opener on Tuesday night.  The winless Tomcats (0-5),, played the Raiders tough for a quarter and a half before the Raiders, led by Joseph Yesufu and 6-foot-4 Tyrique McMurrin, started to put on a dunk-show.
The Raiders went on to win 88-68 in a non-conference victory.

Tigers pick up road win at Lincoln-Way West.
After struggling through a 1-3 Joliet West Thanksgiving Tournament last weekend, Joliet West (2-3), picked up a huge road win at Lincoln-Way West on Tuesday night, 49-42.
Hilltoppers loose another heart-breaker to fall to 0-5
For Joliet Catholic Academy head coach. Joe Gura, the 2018-19 season has gotten off to a heart-breaking start . After suffering through four single-digit losses at the WJOL Thanksgiving Classic last weekend, another heart-breaking loss occurred on Tuesday night .
In an opening-round game, in the 2018 Aurora Christian Tournament, in Aurora on Tuesday, the Hilltoppers fell 66-63 to Harvest Christian.
For Gura and the Hilltoppers, help is on the way in the form of three Hilltopper basketball players who will arrive from JCA’s IHSA Class 5A State Football Championship team.
