The city of Joliet, in conjunction with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is providing contracting opportunities for several subcontracts in the construction of several single-family residences and additional contracts for the demolition of existing structures.

Separate quotes will be received for the respective trades involved for each residence in the new construction of single-family residences and for the demolition of existing structures. Electronic copies, which include the quote due dates, can be downloaded for free at www.cityofjoliet.info/departments/finance/purchasing/bids-proposals.

All prospective bidders and document holders should sign up for RSS feeds at www.cityofjoliet.info/departments/finance/purchasing/bids-proposals/construction-other and provide your first and last name and email address to automatically receive RFP posts and addendums. Make sure to click “Construction-Other” and/or “Demolition” when subscribing to a desired RSS feed.

Addendums will also be posted on the City of Joliet’s website at www.cityofjoliet.info/departments/finance/purchasing/bids-proposals. The potential vendor/contractor remains responsible for obtaining all addenda to the original specification so they should check the specific bid page before submitting a bid to make sure they have received all addendums to a specific contract.

For more information, contact property maintenance coordinator Jeff Sterr at 815-724-4096 or jsterr@jolietcity.org. The City of Joliet has a local qualified bidder ordinance that would not apply to these contracts.

The proposed contracts shall be subject to the provisions of the Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1 et seq.) to the extent required by law and the city of Joliet procurement code (Section 2-430-2-453 of the Code of Ordinances). Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum wage rates to be paid under the contract, Section 3, Segregated Facility, Section 109 and E.O. 11246. Woman- and minority-owned businesses are encouraged to submit a quote(s).

The city also encourages eligible contractors to register as a Section 3 business at https://portalapps.hud.gov/Sec3BusReg/BRegistry/RegisterBusiness.
