Fairy Fest and Breakfast with the Fairies. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Drive, Joliet. Enjoy fairy flower walks, discover fairy food, make enchanted crafts and be entertained by winged hostesses! Come dressed in wings, make a wand, learn a few magic words and indulge your inner child. The sale is open to the public and includes a huge variety of plants at great prices including: annual bedding plants, hanging baskets, mixed planters, perennials, herbs, fruits and vegetables, tropical, house plants, cacti and succulents, cut flowers, carnivorous plants and more. En-Lightening: A Show of Color in the Dark. 6 to 8 p.m. at Galley Seven, 116 N. Chicago St., Joliet. The paintings of artists Rita Rogan and John Bramblitt will be presented with a reception. This reception is free and open to the public. “En-Lightening” opens May 9 and closes on June 4.
Will/Grundy Genealogical Society meeting. 10 a.m. at Coal City Public Library, 85 N. Garfield St., Coal City. This month’s program will be presented by Patricia Reaves, a teacher of German at Riverside-Brookfield High School. She was born in Germany and is fluent in the language and the history of the country. She will advise members and guests on research procedures in both this country and abroad. There will be handouts and a display of books and research aids. The public is welcome and refreshments will be served.
Springtime Storybooks on Stage. 11 a.m. at Joliet West Auditorium, 401 .N Larkin Ave. Tickets: $3. An event perfect for the whole family…especially kids! Modern Interpretations of the Classic Tales “Cinderella” and “Peter Pan” – completely written, produced, and portrayed by Joliet West Drama students.

Pet Expo 2016. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clow-Stephens Dog Park, 16650 S. Lily Cache Road, Plainfield. This event sponsored by Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and Representative Natalie Manley. Local animal businesses will be on hand to showcase their services. Information will also be distributed to attendees regarding recent animal legislation. Anyone going to the pet expo is encouraged to bring their pets. Nail Trimming for pets will be available. Photos can also be taken at the event of people with their animals.
