With Friday’s 38-21 Central Suburban South victory over New Trier, the Hawks of Maine South (7-1, 4-0), have won 17 of the last 18 CSL South titles. In that 18-year period, the Hawks improved to 88-1 in CSL South action. QB Cole Dow and FB Jimmy Bartel each scored two touchdowns, for Maine South.

Notre Dame (7-1, 5-1) lost all-everything RB/DB Ty Gavin to an ankle injury in the second quarter of its game at Carmel of Mundelein. The Dons turned to standout junior linebacker turned fullback Anthony Ranallo. In the fourth quarter, Ranallo broke lose for a 60-yard touchdown run to give the Dons a 14-7 lead. Ranallo’s second touchdown of the game, this time from 14-yards out, finished off their East Suburban Catholic Conference host Corsairs 21-7.

Bolingbrook RBs, Quentin Pringle and Anthony Williams Jr., ran wild in Bolingbrook’s (7-1, 5-1) home finale on Friday night. Pringle, had 185 yards and three touchdowns for the Raiders, while Williams ran for 114 more yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders 43-7 win over Thornton.

Up next, for The Brook is a Southwest Suburban Conference Showdown with the defending Class 8A State Champion Griffins of Lincoln-Way East (8-0, 6-0), on Friday, in Frankfort
Benet Academy (6-2, 4-2) RB Ben Hickey, scored three touchdowns and ran for 103 yards in the Redwings 58-0 win over Marian Catholic on Friday. RB Mike Wymer, also eclipsed the century-mark, rushing for 120 yards and a touchdown, QB Colin Gillespie, threw for 111 yards with a 30-yard touchdown pass, to WR Luke Flaska.
The Redwings host East Suburban Catholic Conference leader Marist (7-1, 6-0) at Benedictine University Friday night.
Plainfield South (7-1, 7-1) prevailed 17-10 over Plainfield North in the annual “Plainfield Civil War, on Friday. With the win and the tremendous 7-1 start to the season, the Cougars are Voyager Media Publications Week 8 Team of the Week.
On Friday, seven-time defending Southwest Prairie Conference champion, Oswego (8-0, 8-0) comes to “The South Side” to clash with the Cougs’. With a win, the Cougars could grab a share, of the 2018 SPC title.
Red-Hot Minooka (6-2, 6-2), won for the sixth consecutive time with a 17-6 win over Joliet West. Area passing yardage leader Seth Lehr scored his seventh rushing touchdown for the Indians and threw for 83 yards. Indian LB Jake Shipla led the Indian defense.
For the Tigers, QB Alfonso Sanchez threw for 190 yards and a touchdown pass to WR Kevon Dorris (five catches, 93 yards,TD).
Lisle (8-0), the only remaining, undefeated team in our area, put on a show at Benedictine, in the Lions’ regular-season home finale against Sandwich. Lion QB Jay McGrath threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns, as the Lions romped past the Indians 41-8. WR Demo Kellie returned to haul in four of McGraths tosses for 128 yards and a touchdown.
On Friday, the Lions travel to Coal City for the unofficial Interstate 8 Conference Championship Game, between the I-8 Small champs (Lisle) and the I-8 Large champs from Coal City (7-1).
In the annual District 99 Crosstown Classic, the Downers Grove North (4-4) defense shutout, its archrival from Downers Grove South 10-0. DGN junior QB Drew Cassens ran for 137 yards and scored the game’s lone touchdown. Cassens has now rushed for 874 yards and has scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Westmont (5-3) traveled to the Wisconsin border and won 7-6 at winless Warren (IL) (0-8). Sentinel QB Gavin Carr’s, three-yard touchdown run tied the game with 3:03 remaining in the game. PK Hadi Hammadeha’s PAT, won it for the Sentinel’s .
On Friday in Westmont, a Sentinel win over Burlington Central (2-6) will give Westmont a Class 3A Playoff berth.
