Plainfield’s new PACE park-n-ride facility has become a flurry of daily activity, providing a place for hundreds of drivers a day to secure their vehicles before hopping a bus to Chicago.
But last weekend, the lot withstood its first transformation as an event venue, attracting hundreds of visitors for food, drinks and fun during the inaugural Rocktoberfest Beer Fest.
The special event was approved by the village and organized last spring, with organizers eyeing the three-day festival as a way to raise a little cash for a good cause.
The event was sponsored by STAR EVENTS, a Chicago-based promotions company whose owner resides in Plainfield.
The Friday through Sunday all-ages event included a music and beer festival, family activities, carnival games, and inflatables. The organizers will send the funds raised to the Plainfield Legacy Fund, a specific, Plainfield-designated fund within the Community Foundation of Will County.
The fund raises cash specifically to benefit local charitable activities.
