The C.W. Avery Family YMCA will host a Community Open House from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 16 at its downtown Plainfield location, 15120 Wallin Drive. With a variety of activities planned, this will be a great opportunity for residents of all ages to learn more about YMCA programs and utilize the facility, including the Y’s newly renovated wellness center.
During the Community Open House, guests will be able to join in on the following family-friendly activities:
- Swimming in the lap pool or exploring the indoor family waterpark
- Exercising in the newly renovated wellness center
- Playing in Kids Corner and learning more about the Y’s youth programs
- Walking on the indoor track or playing basketball in the gym
Area residents looking to join the YMCA can also take advantage of a membership special during the Community Open House. Potential members who donate five non-perishable food items will pay a $0 joiner’s fee, a savings of up to $120. Collected food items will be donated to the Plainfield Area Interfaith Food Pantry. 
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with physicians from Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, who will be onsite providing complimentary injury screening assessments, spine/postural screenings, and flexibility testing. Providers from the Hospital’s Neuroscience Institute will also be available to answer questions about back and neck pain and Stroke. Local family practice physician, Yousuf Mohammed, M.D., will also be onsite to answer general health and wellness questions. Residents are also welcome to tour the Hospital’s new physical therapy gym, which is located inside the Y’s wellness center. Other festivities will include appearances by local mascots, food trucks, building tours and more. Star 96.7 will also be broadcasting live from the YMCA from 1-3 p.m.

Avery Family YMCA features a lap pool, indoor waterpark, gymnasium, indoor track, group exercise studios, supervised play areas, community space, and a newly renovated wellness center. The Y’s new wellness center boasts a boulder, brighter design, increased square footage, a group exercise and cycling room, state-of-the-art strength and cardio equipment, and dedicated personal training space.
